Privacy Policy for Soluna Calendar

Last updated:

In short: Soluna keeps your information on your device. It has no accounts, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking. The only data that leaves your Mac is your approximate coordinates, sent to the public AlAdhan prayer-times API to fetch prayer times, and a location lookup handled by Apple's own geocoding service to show your city name. Your coordinates are not stored or retained by the developer. Calendar events, when you allow access, are read only to show markers, an agenda, and meeting links, and never leave your device. You can deny or revoke location and calendar access at any time in System Settings, and you can set a city manually instead of using location.

This policy explains what Soluna Calendar ("Soluna", "the app") does and does not do with your information. It is written in plain language.

Information we collect

Soluna Calendar does not collect personal data. There is no account and no sign-in, and the developer does not receive, store, or retain information about you. Some data is used only on your device, and only with your permission:

What Soluna does not do

Network access

One third-party host: api.aladhan.com, the free public AlAdhan prayer-times REST API. It receives only your latitude and longitude plus calculation parameters (method, madhab, high-latitude rule, minute tuning) to return prayer times, and is queried at most once per day with the result cached locally in UserDefaults. No API key is used. Geocoding to resolve a city name from coordinates, or coordinates from a typed city, uses Apple's built-in CLGeocoder service. There are no other network calls.

Soluna Calendar has no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.

Third-party services

The following may be involved, and only for the purposes above:

Data retention

Because the developer never receives your data, there is nothing for the developer to retain. Your content and settings remain on your device until you remove them or uninstall the app.

Your choices

You control any permission the app requests in System Settings → Privacy & Security, and you can change or revoke it at any time. Denying a permission only disables the related feature; the rest of the app keeps working.

Children’s privacy

Soluna Calendar is a general-audience utility. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date above will be updated. Material changes will appear here before they take effect.
